A weekly backup of your work, in your own Google Drive
Peace of mind that does not depend on us. Turn it on once and every gallery original, project file and signed contract is copied into a Phlostate Backup folder in your own Google Drive, every week, kept for as long as you decide.
How it works
- Connect Google Drive from Settings. Phlostate only ever sees the files it creates there.
- Every week it copies new and changed files. Unchanged files are never uploaded twice.
- Changed files get a new version rather than a duplicate, so you can go back.
- Anything you delete in Phlostate is moved to an Archive folder in Drive, not erased, until the retention you chose has passed.
- A manifest is written with every backup so you can see exactly what was copied and when.
- Retention is yours to set: one week, four weeks, twelve weeks, a year, or forever.
What it costs
The backup is included in Phlostate. The storage is your Google Drive, so it counts against whatever Google plan you have. A few hundred gigabytes of originals fits in a modest Google One plan.
Why a separate copy matters
Phlostate keeps its own operational backups, but your work should never depend on a single company. A copy in your own Google account is one you control, can browse in any Drive app, and keep after you leave.
Questions
- Does Phlostate get access to my whole Drive?
- No. The connection uses a permission that only covers files Phlostate creates. It cannot see anything else in your Drive.
- What happens if I disconnect?
- Future backups stop. Everything already in your Drive stays exactly where it is.
- How long does the first backup take?
- It runs in the background in ten-minute passes, so a large library takes a few hours. After that only new and changed files are copied.
